Palafolls

Palafolls is a Catalan city in the province of Barcelona, in northeastern Spain.

Geography

Palafolls located in the comarca of Maresme. A large part of the district is covered by forests ( oak, pine, chestnut ). About 25% of the municipal area is used for agriculture, particularly for the cultivation of potatoes, vegetables and fruits.

As of 1950, the population later rose steadily due to strong immigration of about 1,000 first by leaps and bounds, to 9081 (as of 1 January 2013).

Structures

The ruins of the castle of Palafolls, seat of the barony of the same name, stands on a small mountain range.

The Japanese architect Arata Isozaki planned 1987 Palafolls sports complex, which was inaugurated in 1996.
