Palagnedra
Palagnedra was a municipality in the district Melezza, in the district of Locarno in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.
25 October 2009 Palagnedra merged with the municipalities and Borgnone Intragna the new community Cento Valli.
History
The village was first mentioned in writing in 1236. Palagnedra was once the capital of the Cento Valli. Palagnedra was formerly an ideal hiding place for smugglers. Palagnedra, which counts 119 inhabitants in summer, in winter is only about 50 inhabitants. In Palagnedra there for 25 years, no more rebirths.
Geography
For the former municipality included the hamlet " Bordei », « Moneto " and " Cresto Mona Dello ». In Bordei the "base camp" of the therapeutic Foundation Terra Vecchia was built after 1970.
Near the town of Lago di Palagnedra is. The dam was completed in 1952 and is 72 m high. The lake was formed by the damming of the river Melezza.
