Palante

Palante is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Palante situated at an altitude of 308 m above sea level, 7 km east-southeast of Lure and about 21 km west of the town of Belfort ( a straight line ). The village is located in the eastern part of the department, increased slightly west of the lowlands of Rognon, on the western edge of the heights of the Chérimont.

The area of ​​3.46 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside of southeast of the level of Lure. The eastern border is always along the Rognon, which provides for drainage over the Scey to Ognon. The Alluvialniederung is on average 300 meters and has a width of around 500 meters. From the river, the municipality's area extends westward to the hill of Palante and into the hollow of a right side of the creek Rognon. In the field, which is primarily used for agriculture, there are several fish ponds. To the north of the municipality floor extends into the Grove La Noye Jeannin. With 337 m find the highest mountains of Palante is achieved. In geological- tectonic terms of area consists of calcareous and sandy- marly sediments during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ) and the Triassic (especially limestone ) were deposited.

History

In the Middle Ages Palante belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had the monastery Lure held that Palante in 1290 Hugues de Bourgogne left for life. Already in 1449 the inhabitants were granted certain liberties. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Palante is a member of the 22 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes du Pays de Lure. Palante does not have its own church, it belongs to the parish Lyoffans.

Population

With 198 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Palante is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (1881 160 people were still counted ), was from 1975 to 1990 again recorded a continuous population growth. Since then, the population remained at a constant level.

Economy and infrastructure

Palante was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ), forestry and fish farming embossed village. In addition, gypsum and limestone quarrying were also of importance. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and in the agglomeration of Belfort -Montbéliard.

The village has good transport links. It is located near the secondary road D438 which leads from Lure to Montbéliard and is expanded in this area for four-lane expressway. Further road links exist with Frotey -lès -Lure, Lyoffans, Andornay and La Côte.
