The Palar (Tamil: பாலாறு Pālāṟu [ pɑ ː ː lɑ rɯ ] ) is a 357 km long river in southern India periodic. It rises in the Eastern Ghats near Kolar in the Indian state of Karnataka, flows generally in an easterly or southeasterly direction 93 km in Karnataka, 42 km in Andhra Pradesh and 222 km in Tamil Nadu on the Coromandel Coast, where he was almost 70 kilometers south of Chennai in the Gulf flows of Bengal.
The main tributaries of the Palar are the Ponnai and Cheyyar. Major cities on its banks are Vaniyambadi, Ambur, Vellore, Arcot and Chengalpattu.
