Palazzo Beneventano del Bosco

The Palazzo Beneventano del Bosco is a late Baroque aristocratic palace in the Sicilian city of Syracuse and is in Piazza Duomo.

History

The Palazzo Beneventano del Bosco was built in 1779-1788 by Luciano Alì. The Palazzo is a late creation, but shows no signs of classicism. At the rear end of the courtyard is one of the most beautiful open staircases throughout Sicily. Its arches, bricked or glazed today, opened to a second courtyard on the back of the Palazzo. The staircase must have been the culmination of one of the most perfect creations of the Sicilian Baroque once.

This palace housed the Admiral Nelson and King Ferdinand IV of Bourbon.
