Palilalia

Palilalia ( " back " from the Greek πάλιν ( Palin) and λαλέω ( laleô ), " talk, talk ") is a medical term that refers to pathological compulsion own phrases and words to speak again. The speech rate increases, while the volume drops.

Palilalia counts as echolalia ( compulsive repetition of words of the interlocutor ) to the repetitive phenomena ( linguistic tics). They often occur in the utterances of brain-injured patients. Especially Tourette's patients and those with advanced Parkinson's disease suffer from these repetitive disorders, but also in schizophrenia and autism occurrence is described.
