Palma Soriano is a city and a municipality in the province of Santiago de Cuba in the south- east of Cuba and north of the provincial capital. The city has 71 180 inhabitants on an area of 846 square km. In the metropolitan area of the city of 123 289 inhabitants ( census 2012).

The municipality is divided in addition to the city itself in the villages Alto Cedro, Caney del Sitio, Guaninao, José Martí, Juan Barón, La Concepción, Las Cuchillas, Los Dorados, Norte, Palmarito de Cauto, San Leandro, San Ramon, Santa Filomena and sur.

The city of Palma Soriano is located on the banks of the Río cauto. From surrounding haciendas located in 1825 founded the city. Died here in 1895, the Cuban freedom fighter José Martí in the battle of Dos Ríos in the Cuban War of Independence.

Palma Soriano is the birthplace of reggaeton singer Mey Vidal, the baseball legend Orestes Kindelán and the former world track and field athlete of the year Ana Fidelia Quirot.
