Palmar de Varela

Palmar de Varela is a municipality in the province of Atlántico in Colombia with 29 407 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2005). The community is located about 20 km south of Barranquilla in the Magdalena River Delta, near the Colombian Caribbean coast. It was founded in 1806 by Catalino Varela. 1857 Palmar de Varela was to the community.
