Palmomental reflex

The Palmomentalreflex (syn. Radovici character) is a reflex that can occur in both healthy subjects and patients with various neurological diseases. The diagnostic value is controversial. It is triggered by vigorous brushing of the thenar muscles from proximal to distal. In patients suffering a contraction of the ipsilateral chin muscles takes place.

The reflex was described in 1920 by Gheorghe Marinescu and A. Radovici.
