Păltiniș

Păltiniş ( German: High channel ) is a Romanian climatic health and winter sports resort in the Carpathians ( Cindrel Mountains ), south-west of Sibiu ( Hermannstadt). He is an average height of 1440 m, the highest point is 1681 m.

The town was founded around 1894 by the Transylvanian Carpathian Society. From this period still exist, the "tourist house ", the " medical center " and the " Monaco - Hall", which are now under monument protection.

In a local monastery, the Romanian philosopher and writer Constantin Noica has spent his last years and founded the "School of Păltiniş ". He is buried there next to the church ( Schitul Păltiniş ).
