Paluel Nuclear Power Plant

F1

Active reactors ( gross ):

The nuclear power plant is located near the French community Paluel Paluel in the Haute-Normandie region in the département of Seine- Maritime. The nuclear power plant, which consists of four pressurized water reactors, is about 40 kilometers from the city of Dieppe (Seine- Maritime), and six kilometers southwest of Saint -Valery -en- Caux, on the coast of the English Channel, and employs approximately 1,250 people. Operator is the French company EDF. For cooling is used from the English Channel water.

History

The construction of the first reactor block was started on 15 August 1977 this was on June 22, 1984 in operation. Between the years 1978 and 1980 has started with the construction of three other reactors, which were then put into operation on September 4, 1984 September 30, 1985 and on April 11, 1986.

Performance

The four pressurized water reactors have a net power output of 1,330 megawatts ( MW) and a gross capacity of 1,382 MW. The total installed capacity is 5,528 MW, bringing the reactor unit to the most powerful nuclear power plants in France is one (second place ) and ranks fifth in the world. Every year, it feeds an average of 32 billion kilowatt hours into the public power grid.

Security

In the past, seasonal algae formations resulted in the English Channel to block the water supply and it came several times to problems with the cooling of the system and thus for automatic fast shutdown of the plant. This extensive emergency shutdowns led to repair work on the components of the feed, and had an impact on the emergency cooling systems. In September 2009, broke out in the non-nuclear part of the plant, a fire at a generator, which is why a reactor had to be shut down.

Data of the reactor units
