Pamela Sargent

Pamela Sargent ( born March 20 in Ithaca ( City 1948, New York)) is an American feminist, science fiction writer and editor. She has a Masters degree in philosophy.

Life and work

Pamela Sargent was born in Ithaca and raised as an atheist. Quote: ". The Old Testament 's full of good stories, my personal favorites being Those of David and Esther I never Could get into the New Testament. " ( " The Old Testament is full of good stories, my personal favorites are the books David and Esther. Using the New Testament I am working not at all. " ) She attended the State University of New York at Binghamton, which they in the master's degree philosophy ended. She currently lives in Albany, New York.

She wrote a series of books about terraforming of Venus, which is compared to Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy, but Sargent published their books before. In her work, she also deals with alternative world stories and many other themes of science fiction literature.

As editor she moved primarily anthologies of women in order to strengthen the role of women writers in the history of science fiction, and published, among others, Judith Merril, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Kate Wilhelm and Ursula K. Le Guin.
