Pamlico County, North Carolina

Pamlico County is a county located in the state of North Carolina of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Bayboro, which was named after its location on the Bay River.

Geography

The County is located in Eastern North Carolina, is separated by the upstream peninsulas from the Atlantic Ocean and has an area of 1,467 square kilometers, of which 594 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Beaufort County, Hyde County, Carteret County and Craven County.

History

Pamlico County was formed in 1872 from parts of Beaufort County. It was named after an Indian tribe.
