Pan Am Railways

Pan Am Railways ( PAR) is a US-based Class 2 railway companies in the northeast of the country. By the end of March 2006, the company operated under the name Guilford Rail System. The company is headquartered in Billerica (Massachusetts ).

The network comprises around 2,600 km Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.

History

The company Guilford Transportation Industries founded in 1977 Timothy Mellon of Guilford (Connecticut). 1981 saw the entry into the railroad business with the purchase of the Maine Central Railroad (MEC ) and their daughter Portland terminal. In June 1983, the net around the Boston and Maine Railroad (B & M ) and the daughter Springfield Terminal (ST ) has been extended. The railway activities were bundled system from this time under the name ST Rail.

Further expansion took place in 1984 as the company of the Norfolk and Western Railway, the Delaware and Hudson Railway ( D & H) earned. 1998 Guilford acquired name, color and logo of the former airline Pan Am and used this for their own airline. 2005 began to paint freight cars in Pan Am colors and the logo. In March 2006, the renaming of Guilford Transportation Industries in Pan Am system and traction daughter in Pan Am Railways took place.
