Pan-Iranism

The Paniranismus is an ideology that a union and solidarity of all Iranian -born people, regardless of religion and language, advocated in a nation-state, the Grand - Iran ( ایران بزرگ Irān -e Bozorg, ایرانزمین Irān - Zamīn; uses the Encyclopædia Iranica the term Iranian cultural continent German - Iranian cultural continent ).

History

The Iranian political scientist Dr. Mahmoud Afshar Yazdi used the term Paniranismus first time in the early 1920s. He developed the idea or ideology of Paniranismus as a response to the growing pan-Arabism and pan-Turkism, which Dr. Afshar Yazdi as a potential threat to the unity and territorial integrity of Iran considered.

After the end of the Qajar dynasty the former general and defense minister Reza Khan became the Shah ( German king) of Iran raised. Under Reza Shah Pahlavi many significant reforms were enforced. Iran stabilized until the outbreak of the Second World War. After Hitler's attack on the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, the Allies were planning a supply line, the Persian corridor through Iran, which did not grant Iran due to the declared neutrality. Great Britain and the Soviet Union marched then on 24 August 1941 in the country ( Anglo - Soviet invasion of Iran). The Allies forced on September 16, 1941 Reza Shah Pahlavi, in favor of his son, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi to abdicate.

Due to the occupation of Iran paniranistische the movement gained new popularity. The hatred against the occupiers has increased steadily in the population. Many young people and intellectuals in Iran rallied in political groups, including the Paniranisten. The founder of the Pan - Iranist Party of Iran ( The German Paniranistische Party of Iran ) were among others Mohsen Pezeshkpour, Alinaghi Alikhani, and Dariush Forouhar Bijan Homayoun. This party joined over the years, other prominent Iranians such as Dariush Forouhar, but after three years of party membership (1948-1951) separated from the Paniranisten and the National Front ( Jebhe Melli ) founded.

The Pan - Iranist Party of Iran is at the present time both at home and abroad politically active.

Directions of Paniranismus

There are several directions of Paniranismus:

  • Persian nationalism, aiming at the unification of all Persian - speaking and Persian -born people (see Tajiks ). This movement is based mainly on the language factor.
  • Persian nationalism, aiming at the supremacy of the modern state of Iran on other populations in the nearby neighborhood of Iran. This variant of the Paniranismus based on the national factor of the modern state of Iran, but does not accept its present borders, but rises territorial claims against neighboring states.
  • Paniranismus in the true sense seeks the union of all Iranian peoples, that is also the Pashtuns, Baluchis, Kurds, etc, to. However, this movement is considered outside of the Persian language and culture circle as a relatively unknown.

Opposed to the Paniranismus are pan-Arabism and pan-Turkism the. In Afghanistan, the Persian nationalism of the Tajiks (and other Persian - speaking ethnic groups ) is offset by the Pashtun nationalism.
