Pan-Sahel-Initiative

The Pan Sahel Initiative is a military assistance agreement of the United States with the states of Chad, Niger, Mali and Mauritania. The initiative is aimed against trafficking, international crime and terrorist movements. The budget is $ 6.5 million (2004), about 350 U.S. troops are in the region. Special Forces stationed in Stuttgart Battalion of the 10th Special Forces Group form in Mali from a part of the armed forces.
