Panacea (medicine)

The panacea to German panacea, is a mythical universal cure (or -Arznei/-Medikament ) for treating all kinds of diseases.

The search for such a remedy was considered as the search for the Philosopher's Stone as an object of alchemy.

The name is derived from Panacea (Greek Πανάκεια, all healing '), a daughter of Asclepius, god of healing in Greek mythology. Today, the term " panacea " or "cure " is often used in a negative sense, to denote an illusory universal solution to all problems.
