Panagiotis Pikrammenos

Panagiotis Pikrammenos (Greek Παναγιώτης Πικραμμένος, Panagiotis Pikraménos; born July 26, 1945 in Athens ) is a Greek lawyer. From 16 May 2012 to 20 June 2012, he stood before as Greek Prime Minister of an interim government whose main task of the conduct of the parliamentary elections on June 17, 2012 was resulted from the Andonis Samaras as the new Prime Minister.

Life

Pikrammenos attended the German School in Athens. He then studied law at Athens University, worked as a lawyer in Athens and London and completed a postgraduate course in Public Law at the University of Paris II, he is considered an expert in maritime law.

His judicial career began in June 1976 as an advisor to the State Council, the Supreme Administrative Court. In 1978 he was appointed Judge of the State Council. From 1992 to 1993 he worked in the office of the Prime Minister as a consultant to public law. 1998/99 he completed as part of a training courses in European Law at the University of Paris II in 2007, he was appointed Vice President and appointed President of the State Council in 2009. Besides Officially he was from 2005 to 2010 Director General of the National Judicial Academy. He worked on several committees involved in the legislative process.

Prime Minister of the transitional government

May 16, 2012 Pikrammenos was sworn in as Prime Minister, after all attempts of the party leaders and the President Papoulias had failed to form a majority government capable of after the election of 6 May 2012. Since the parties also could not agree on a "political" prime minister for a transitional government until new elections, the president had to hire one of the chief judge of the country with the formation of a transitional government to conduct elections according to Article 37 § 3 of the Greek Constitution. After the parliamentary elections on June 17, 2012 succeeded in forming a government of New Democracy, PASOK and the Democratic Left Andonis Samaras with a new prime minister.

Just days after his replacement as Prime Minister Pikrammenos entered June 30, 2012 as a judge to retire.
