Panajot Pano

Panayot Pano (Greek Παναγιώτης Πάνου born March 7, 1939 in Durrës, † January 19, 2010 in Jacksonville, Florida) was an Albanian football player and is regarded as a legend in Albanian football.

Career

Pano came from a Greek family from the village in the district Lefterohor Delvina. He began his career with 12 years in the youth team of SK Tirana as a goalkeeper. Later he became a center forward and instead, after he had been called up into the army in 1959 to Partizani Tirana. Partizani Tirana had connections to the Ministry of Defence. He won four times, the Albanian Cup with Partizani Tirana, the Albanian Cup five times. He played a total of 25 times for the Albanian national football team.

After retiring in 1975, he took over as coach the U-21 national team of Albania and also coached youth players Partizani. In 2004 he was elected to the Albanian player of the last century.
