Panama national basketball team

The Panamanian national basketball team of the gentlemen representing Panama in international basketball games. It is one of the better teams in Central America and has won several medals at the Central American Championships. In addition to participating in the 1968 Olympic Games, it was enough to four participations in the final of the World Basketball Championship. The best placement at a global finals was a ninth place finish at the World Championships in 1970 and 1982. Though qualified, the national team was not allowed to participate in the continental finals basketball Americas Championship in 2013, as the supporting association was suspended by the world governing body FIBA. As a consequence, Mexico took the place of Panama at the finals in 2013.
