Panamint Range from the valley floor in the Panamint Valley in a south-easterly direction

The Panamint Range is a short, wild break Scholl mountain range on the northern edge of the Mojave Desert in southeastern California in the southwestern United States. The mountain range extends for about 160 km in a north-south direction through Inyo County, where it defines the western edge of Death Valley, and this separates them from the more westerly Panamint Valley. The highest mountain is the Telescope Peak with an altitude of 3,368 meters. The largest part of the chain is located in the western part of Death Valley National Park. Some peaks of the Panamint Range, both a Mount Whitney, the highest mountain in the continental 48 states, as well as see the Death Valley. This means that you can see both of these points of the mountain chain, the lowest and the highest point in the continental United States.

The Panamint Range is located on the southwestern edge of the Great Basin.
