PanAmSat

PanAmSat was a provider of telecom, Internet and broadcasting services based in Wilton, Connecticut.

The company, founded by Reynold Anselmo 1984 decreed among other things its own fiber networks and a fleet of 21 satellites. Nine satellites, "Galaxy" series are specifically designed for the transmission of HDTV broadcasts. PanAmSat had claims to be the first operator of a private satellite.

1996 laid PanAmSat and Hughes Electronics satellite along its lines, but kept the name in PanAmSat. PanAmSat was listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

On 20 June 2006 Intelsat bought for 3.2 billion U.S. dollars PanAmSat and took over the satellite.
