Pancake Dome

Pancake Dome on German pancake dome is the English name for a type of volcanoes, the so found only on the planet Venus. It is very regular structure, circular cupolas, called for its appearance so. In the nomenclature of the International Astronomical Union for the description of planetary surface structures they have received the designation Farrum. Plural: Farra. They are named in detail for water goddesses and nymphs.

Pancake Domes have a typical diameter of generally about 25 km and a height of 700 meters, which can be one kilometers but also to over. They occur in groups and often overlap. Their surface reflects not only a central opening of concentric and radial cracks. Apparently, the structures are formed by a lava with very high toughness. It is hard to decipher how the lava could swell so evenly across the plains. Viscous lava piles up on the earth domes, but they are much smaller and not so symmetrical.
