The game board shows a map of the earth on the 48 large cities are shown ( twelve in four different colors). Between these cities are connection lines representing a direct link. In addition, there is storage space for the action to be in the playing cards and tension bars for the outbreaks of epidemics and the infection rate.

Maps

There are two piles of cards: Infection cards that specify which city is ravaged by a plague next, and maps. The stack of the player cards contains city maps a few action cards and epidemic cards ( number varies according to the desired difficulty level of the game). City maps allow the journey to or from the selected town and can be used to develop an antidote. Action cards allow each a certain additional action. Epidemic cards increase the rate of infection, and the stored infection cards are shuffled and placed on the rest piles of infection cards. This means that new infections occur there first, where before food infections had occurred.

Roll

  • Logistics: The logistics ( in the 1st edition dispatcher) can move the pawns of other players during his turn after consultation. Typically, each player can move only his own character.
  • Doctor: The doctor may remove an action all disease markers of one color in one location. Other roles can only ever a disease marker per action to remove. Is there an antidote to the disease, the doctor may remove all disease markers that color in this place, without having to spend for an action. Normally this costs an action.
  • Scientists: The Scientist needs only four of the same color player cards in order to develop an antidote. Typically, this five cards are required.
  • Researcher: The researcher can pass any player card to a player in the same place. Normally this is only possible with the map of the corresponding city.
  • Operating Expert: The expert mode can set up new research laboratories to have to play without a map of the corresponding city.

Play

Players start in Atlanta, headquarters of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and travel the world to find evidence of a cure for the disease and prevent its spread. Since each player at the end of its phase still contributes a contribution to the spread of diseases, skillful joint action against the backlash mechanism is needed. An epidemic is not treated can quickly lead to an explosive spread of the disease and end the game quickly. The infection cards eradicated diseases, however, have no influence on the game, so it is important to as quickly as possible to completely wipe individual epidemics.

Gambling

For the players, there is only one victory condition. You win immediately if they succeed in time to find against all four diseases an antidote.

Players lose when it comes to eight outbreaks of epidemics in the game, a single disease spreads so strongly that no markers of this disease more are in stock or they can not draw more players cards.
