Paneriai

Aukštieji Paneriai ( polish Ponar, Yiddish פאנאר ) is a southeastern district of Lithuania's capital, Vilnius, west of the railway tunnel Paneriai. It is located in a wooded area. Here there is the Memorial Museum Paneriai, station Paneriai. Here the massacre of Paneriai took place. Formerly a well known and popular destination of the urban population, Ponar was from autumn 1941 onwards the scene of the mass execution of Baltic Jews.
