The Panixerpass ( rätorom. pass dil Veptga? / I ) is a mountain pass, the Elm in the Glarus Sernftal connects with Pigniu in Grisons Anterior Rhine Valley. At the summit ( 2,407 m above sea level. M. ) is a shelter. The pass is not passable for cars.
The Panixerpass was an important trade link of Glarus Grisons to Italy.

The Russian army under General Suvorov crossed on their withdrawal from the Glarus Grisons the Panixerpass on 6 and 7 October 1799. The weakened army suffered great losses due to snow and cold. About 2000 soldiers and as many pack animals and all 25 carried guns lost during the crossing. A plaque at the pass reminded today of this event.
