Panning (camera)

The so-called entrainment (English panning ) is a technique in photography in which the photographer with the camera follow the moving object and photographed it. Thus it can be that the moving object even with a relatively slow shutter speed appears largely sharp, while the environment is shown blurred because of motion blur.

The entrainment is in contrast to shake a targeted use of technology that is used to compensate technical shortcomings, but was used early on as a conscious design means to visualize high speeds. The photos made in this way are referred to as " Mitzieher " or " Mitwischer ".

This " natural" design means the movement speed of the object can be much more clearly emphasized. If very slow shutter speed selected, the object is mapped partially or completely out of focus and the photos often look futuristic and extremely dynamic.

Both means of special effect filters, but also by means of image processing programs can be enhanced crosstalk or modeled more or less natural looking. However, such arrangements are often rejected as a distorting while it may not even notice the untrained observer, that that image was manipulated.
