Pannonhalma

Pannonhalma [ pɒn onhɒlmɒ ː ] (up to 1965 " Győrszentmárton "; German Martin Berg, Slovak Rábsky Svätý Martin) is a Hungarian city in Győr- Moson -Sopron ( Gyor-Moson - Sopron ) with nearly 4000 inhabitants. On the local Martin Berg, the same Benedictine Archabbey Martin Berg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996 raises.

Near the monastery is one of the most prestigious boarding schools for boys in Hungary, the Benedictine High School Pannonhalma. Otto von Habsburg, the firstborn son of Charles I and his wife, the Empress Zita, was advised some time here.

The village is located about 20 km south of the provincial capital of Győr, for which there is good road and rail links.
