Pansarbandvagn 301 Straengnaes

The Pansarbandvagn 301 ( Pbv 301) is a Swedish Protect and transport tanks from the late 1950s.

History

The Pansarbandvagn 301 based on the chassis of Stridsvagn m/41, which is classified the end of the 1950s, as outdated and therefore discarded. However, the chassis of the m/41 could be used for the Pbv 301. In June 1959 ten pre-production vehicles were ordered by the Swedish Army - three were built by AB Landsverk and seven of Hägglund and Söner. Finally received 1961 Hägglund & Söner the contract, the Pbv to produce 301. Until April 1963, all vehicles were delivered. The Pbv 301 remained until the beginning of the 1970s in the service. The tank was replaced by Pansarbandvagn 302

The Armoured Personnel Carrier was armed with the 20 mm machine gun m/45B Bofors, which was also used in the Swedish fighter aircraft Saab 21R. The tank had a crew of two and could transport eight soldiers with equipment in the interior.
