Pantaenus

Pantaenus of Alexandria ( also Pantainos, Pantaenus ) (* unknown; † ca 216) was a Christian theologian of the 2nd century. He founded the Catechetical School of Alexandria, this school was one of the first known catechetical schools and influential in the development of Christian theology. Pantaenus regarded as Doctors of the Church of the Orthodox Church.

Clement of Alexandria, his most famous student, describes him as " the Sicilian bee " (ie, as a man of Sicilian origin).

To 185 Pantaenus was missionary work as stoic preformed scholar and is intended to have come to India. There, he discovered the Hebrew original version of Matthew's Gospel, which was once the Apostle Bartholomew in his mission entrusted to the young community.
