Panzer 61

A tank 61 in Yad la- Shiryon Museum

The tank 61 was developed in Switzerland in 1961 procured tanks of the Swiss Army. It was based on findings that were made with the Middle Panzer 1958. In the Federal Konstruktionswerkstätte Thun 150 pieces were produced.

The crew consisted of commander, judges, handlers and drivers.

The armament consisted of a 10.5 - cm - Tank Cannon ( Royal Ordnance L7), a tube- parallel 20 - mm machine gun ( later replaced by a second machine gun ), a 7.5 mm anti-aircraft machine gun ( Mg 51) and six Nebelwerfer. For the main weapon were 52 cartridges for machine gun 240 cartridges, carried the machine gun 3200 cartridges GP 11 and for the Nebelwerfer 16 cartridges.
