Tank weapon was in the German army until 1945, the general term for armored fighting vehicles, main battle tanks, armored personnel or the public perception also just tanks. Thus also the main weapon system of armored force was designated.

In the German army the most heavily armored and armed the most flexible weapon system of armored force is referred to as battle tanks.
