Paolo Ferrari

Paolo Ferrari ( born April 5, 1822 in Modena, † March 9, 1889 in Milan ) was an Italian playwright.

Life

Ferrari in Modena studied law, but especially history and literature. His father was a ducal governor of Massa. Here Ferrari 1847 wrote his first comedy: " Bartolomeo Calzolaro " which he "Il codicillo dello zio Venanzio " named later. This was followed by other pieces, such as " La donna e lo scettico " and " Il codicillo ".

In 1852 he wrote his masterpiece, " Goldoni e le sue sedici commedie nuove ", which was initially for two years not listed, but both the audience as well as critics scored a rare triumph. Equally successful was the 1857 comedy " Parini e la satira ". Both works were long considered the best products in the field of modern Italian comedy.

There were other dramas and comedies. Spicy substances serious trends, incisive dialogue, clever tactics and partly also flashy effects in recall Ferraris newer pieces here and there to French pattern. 1860 Ferrari took a professorship of history in Modena, and later another at the academy of science to Milan.
