Paolo Salvi

Luigi Paolo Salvi ( born November 22, 1891 in Brescia, † January 12, 1945 in Mauthausen concentration camp ) was an Italian gymnast and two-time Olympic champion.

At the Summer Olympics in Stockholm in 1912 he won the team all-around with the Italian team. Eight years later, at the Games in Antwerp, he was able to repeat this success.

In November 1943, Salvi was arrested in Albenga. He was accused to have spread an anti-fascist leaflet. First, once released, he was arrested again in January 1944 and managed through various intermediate stations to the concentration camp Mauthausen. He died there on January 12, 1945, according to the camp in an air raid.
