Paolo Stoppa

Paolo Stoppa ( born June 16, 1906 in Rome, Italy, † 1 May 1988 in Rome, Italy ) was an Italian actor.

Life

Stoppa completed a classical actor training and abdicated in 1927 on the stage. He became one of the most famous and successful character actor of his generation in Italy. In 1932, Stoppa also appeared in feature films. He was often cast in villain roles. With the director Luchino Visconti he sat in several films continue the cooperation that started already in his stage work. Vittorio de Sica also secured for several of his films, for example, Miracle in Milan, his cooperation.

Since the beginning of his career Stoppa was also active as a voice actor; in the 1970s he played increasingly well for television.

During his first time at the Teatro Eliseo in Rome, which lasted from 1938 to 1940, he met his future wife, actress Rina Morelli know. After her death in 1976, he focused almost exclusively on stage again.

Stoppa was honored in 1982 with the Italian film award Nastro d'Argento for his role in Il marchese del Grillo.
