Papa Bouba Diop (2004)

Papa Bouba Diop ( born January 28, 1978 in Dakar ) is a Senegalese football player.

Career

He is now at West Ham United. The midfielder scored the winning goal against France in the opening match of the World Cup 2002. Papa Bouba Diop preferred playing on the position of a central midfielder, but can also be used to position the central front of the defense. Because of his stature and his height of 1.94 meters, the strong box -to-box midfielder is a very unpleasant opponent. During his time at Fulham, he was designated as a "last jewel in the crown ". Since the 2007/ 08 season Diop played for FC Portsmouth. In 2008, he won with Portsmouth FA Cup.

For the season 2010/11 he moved to AEK Athens free transfer. Mid-2011 gave AEK the center forward as a free-agent -free and West Ham United could thus him on 31 August 2011 for a year commit ( with an option for another 12 months) for 250,000 Euros.

National

Diop was appointed for the first time in 1999 in the Senegalese national football team, but denied as recently as 2001 his first international match. He belonged to the team's squad for the FIFA World Cup 2002 in Japan and South Korea, where he made attention to himself, as he scored the 1-0 winning goal in the World Cup opening match against France. At the end of the World Cup, he had scored three goals in five games.

Currently, he scored 11 goals in 63 internationals.
