Expiration

Participating Cardinals

A total of 65 cardinals were eligible to vote, but only 57 of the Cardinals also took part in the conclave actually. The eight remaining cardinals appeared later or had to cancel due to an illness their participation. The majority of Cardinals (31 ) came from Italy, but there were also four cardinals from Austria - Hungary and two from Germany present. As in the conclave in 1903 the two brothers Serafino and Vincenzo Vannutelli were members of the Conclave.

During the period of vacancy following appointments were exercised by these cardinals:

  • Cardinal Dean: Serafino Vannutelli
  • Cardinal Chamberlain: Aristide Rinaldine
  • Kardinalsubdekan: not occupied at this time
