Papal conclave, 1914
The Conclave 1914 was held from 31 August to 3 September 1914., It had become necessary after Pope Pius X died on August 20 of the same year. Giacomo della Chiesa In the end, the Archbishop of Bologna, to Pope Benedict XV. selected.
Expiration
The conclave was held in the Sistine Chapel traditional. A total of 10 ballots were required to elect the new pontiff. The Giacomo Della Chiesa papabili included, Pietro Maffi and Agostino Richelmy
Participating Cardinals
A total of 65 cardinals were eligible to vote, but only 57 of the Cardinals also took part in the conclave actually. This was nevertheless surprising, since it was doubtful whether some cardinals were able to come because of the First World War erupted just as well. The eight remaining cardinals appeared later or had to cancel due to an illness their participation.
