Curd cheese dumplings (also: Quark dumplings, Austrian curd ) are dumplings that are made of cottage cheese or quark dough.

There are many different variants that can be classified based on the method of preparation into two categories.

Cooked cheese dumplings

With them the dough with semolina is made, which ensures the swelling of the dumplings. They are served rolled after cooking fried breadcrumbs and then sprinkled with powdered sugar. But you can be eaten especially in Hungary ( Túrógombóc ), Austria and the Czech Republic and Romania.

Topfenknödel differ from the spread in Germany curd balls, baked and not boiled, although they also consist of a quark dough and sprinkled serving in sugar.

Fried cheese dumplings

The fried dumplings pot no meal is used instead of flour and baking powder. They are particularly common in Romania and served there in many restaurants in the form of a donut with sour cream and fruit for dessert. Both fried, and cooked them hot there papanasi.
