Papendorf, Uecker-Randow

Pape Village is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Greifswald in eastern Mecklenburg -Vorpommern. The community is managed by the Office of Uecker- Randow - Tal with its headquarters in the nearby town of Pasewalk.

Geography

Pape village is situated on the west bank of Uecker four kilometers southwest of Pasewalk.

History

1302 the place with Theodericus dictus Papendorp is first mentioned in a deed Pomeranian.

1950 Pape village was removed together with other municipalities from the Brandenburg until 1945 the Prussian district Prenzlau and assigned to the circle Pasewalk in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. As of July 25, 1952 Pape village belonged to the then newly formed district of Neubrandenburg.

After the war ended in 1945 Pape villages population was expelled by the Red Army from the village. The buildings were used by the occupying power, which had taken over the military airfield Pasewalk near, until the fall of 1945 as a residential building. Many residents were deported or imprisoned in the USSR. Most builders and local farmers' leader of the NSDAP Paul Bandelow sat until 1952 in prison. He was expropriated like all big farmers and fled after his release from prison in the west to Blomberg. The big farmer Carl Bandelow disappeared without a trace after the arrest. Most of the inhabitants were later able to return to Papenburg village.

  • Over 700 year old stone church with a pulpit altar from 1715; because of static problems by moisture penetration, the bell may not currently be rung.

Transport links

Near Pape village lie the motorway exit " Pasewalk -Nord" ( A 20), the intersection of State Road 104 ( Neubrandenburg - Stettin) and 109 ( Greifswald - Berlin) and the Pasewalker airfield (for smaller machines). In the near Pasewalk consist railway connections in all directions.
