Features

The moths reach a wingspan of 80 to 100 millimeters. The forewings are dark brown to black and are pollinated in the basal region strongly with white scales. In the Submarginalregion is from the apex to the inner margin, a row of white spots. Next to it is on the upper third of the wing, seen from the outer edge, a further series of much larger, white and shapeless stains by Postdiskalregion to Diskalregion and finally to the inner edge. On the rest of the wing a few, white and different-sized spots are distributed. The outer edge is white and dark brown to black pied. The hind wings are also dark brown to black. The strong corrugated outer edge is white and dark brown to black pied and has no tails. Between submarginal and Postdiskalregion there are six broad white moon spots. The white, large, shapeless patches of the forewing fuse on the rear wing to a binding, which direction inner edge is steadily thinner and at the front edge includes one brown eye with blue and light brown color. Another eye is located in the Analwinkel. This is black, red and blue. The basal region and the area between the moon spots and binding is dusted with white scales.

The underside of the forewing has a strong resemblance to the top, but is kept in a darker brown. The basal region is characterized by four longitudinal bars. All spots are much more pronounced. The underside of the hind wings also resembles strongly the top, but all features are to a larger extent and it is held in a darker brown. The underside is no longer pollinated and the region around the body is marked by a white area, drill through the brown veins. Now is still on the moon six spots another yellow, blue, black and yellow number with patch. In the middle of Diskalregion located on the tie a yellow crescent moon blue stain.

There is in wing pattern no gender differences, both have the same wing drawings and the same body which is longitudinally striped black yellow.
