Papuk Geopark

The nature park Papuk is a protected area since April 23, 1999 in Croatia. It is located in the eponymous mountain range Papuk and was built to preserve the characteristic of central Slavonia silent and living nature. The emphasis is placed on aesthetic, ecological, cultural and tourist values ​​, as well as education and recreation. The nature park is intended primarily to preserve the heterogeneity of nature and to explore it in more detail. The leaders of the natural park Papuk dedicated to the efficient protection of rare and endangered species.

In 2007, the Papuk by UNESCO was inaugurated in the association of the European Geopark.
