Pär Djoos

Pär Djoos ( born May 11, 1968 in Mora ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player and current coach, who played in his playing days from 1984 to 2003 among others for the Detroit Red Wings and the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League. Since 2009 he has been head coach at IF Sundsvall Hockey in the HockeyAllsvenskan.

Career

Pär Djoos began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at the Mora IK, for the first team, he was from 1984 to 1986 in Division 1, the Swedish second division, active. Then the defender played four years for Brynäs IF in the Elitserien, before he was taken by the Detroit Red Wings under contract, who had chosen him already in the NHL Entry Draft in 1986 in the seventh round as a total 127 players. For Detroit he was in the 1990/91 season in the National Hockey League in 26 games on the ice, in which he was twelve templates. In addition, he scored in 20 games for Detroit's farm team Adirondack Red Wings eleven points scorer, including two goals, in the American Hockey League. On March 5, 1991, he was with Joe Kocur transferred to the New York Rangers in exchange for Kevin Miller, Jim Cummins and Dennis Vial shortly before the trade deadline, played until the end of season but only for their AHL farm team Binghamton Rangers. In the 1991/92 season, the Swede could earn a regular place in the New York Rangers in the NHL, for which he scored 19 points scorer in 50 games, including a goal. In the following season, he completed only six games for New York in the NHL and spent the entire season in the AHL farm team Binghamton Rangers. For Binghamton, he scored a total of 84 games in 79 scorer points, including 18 goals. Due to these achievements he was elected in the same season in the AHL All-Star team.

For the 1993/94 season Djoos returned to Europe, where he scored ten goals for HC Lugano in the Swiss National League A in 45 games and had 32 templates. From 1994 to 1996 he was in the Elitserien Frölunda HC in the Västra under contract. The 1995/96 season he finished, however, the second division club Södertälje SK with which he succeeded Earned promotion in the Elitserien. From 1996, following the 2002/ 03 season he played until his career end at the age of 35 years for his former club Brynäs IF in the Elitserien. His greatest success with Brynäs was winning the Swedish championship title in the season 1998 /99. For this success he wore as best assist provider of Elitserien, both in the main round, as well as in the playoffs, at. In addition, he was elected to the All-Star team as well as in the Elitserien, the Swedish all-star team, a selection of the best in the world active Swedish ice hockey player. 2000 and 2001 he took on each All-Star Game part of the Elitserien.

From 2005 to 2007 was an assistant coach at Djoos Mora IK in the Elitserien. After he began the 2007/08 season in this function, he replaced in the course of the season his compatriot Magnus Arvedson and was briefly as an interim coach for the team before he was even replaced by the Finn Kari Eloranta. Since 2009 he has been head coach at IF Sundsvall Hockey in the sub-prime HockeyAllsvenskan.

Internationally

For Sweden Djoos took part in the junior level at the U18 European Junior Championships in 1986 and the U20 World Youth Championship in 1988. In the U18 European Championship in 1986, he won the silver medal with his team and he himself was elected to the All-Star Team of the tournament. In the senior level, he stood in his country's squad at the World Championships in 1990 and 1999. Doing so, he won with Sweden, a silver and a bronze medal.
