Pär Mårts

Pär Marts ( born April 30, 1953 in Falun ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player and current coach. Since 2010 he has been head coach of the Swedish national ice hockey team.

Career

As a player

Mart began his career in 1971 at VIK Västerås HK in the third Swedish League. End of the season 1971/72, the striker rose with the club on to Division 1. In this Marts was the best scorer of VIK Västerås HK during the 1973/74 season. For the following season the Swede received a contract with the capital club AIK Solna. Over the next six years, he established himself with the club in the Elitserien and was in season 1977/78 Swedish runner-up. In the seasons of 1975/76 bis 1979/80, he completed 174 games in the Elitserien, scored 121 points ( 63 goals, 58 assists) and received 63 penalty minutes. The last five seasons of his playing career spent marts at VIK Västerås HK in the Division 1

As a coach

Since 1986 works as a hockey coach marts. During the season 1986/87 he served as head coach of VIK Västerås HK. Later he was also a lecturer at a hockey school in Västerås, before he again stood from 1988 to 1991 at VIK Västerås HK behind the gang. Then a position as assistant coach of the Swedish U20 national team before marts 1992 was promoted to assistant coach of the Swedish national team.

In 1995 he returned again back to VIK Västerås HK to act there as a head coach. In the 2003 /04 season he won the Swedish championship as head coach with the HV 71 Jönköping. Until 2007 he worked as a coach at HV71 before Mart was named 2007/08 season for head coach of the Swedish U19 and U20 National Hockey Team. In 2010, he took over the Swedish national team that won the silver medal at the World Cup 2011. At the World Championships in 2013 in Stockholm and Helsinki, he won the gold medal with the Tre Kronors.
