The parable of the lost coin, is a parable of Jesus that is found in the Gospel according to Luke.

Prehistory

Jesus used against the scribes and Pharisees this parable, as this once again annoyed about him. They complained that he receives sinners and eating with them, because many so-called sinner and the applicable dishonest tax collector of the places in which he happened to find himself, came to his stories heard. Jesus told this parable, after he had told the parable of the lost sheep.

The parable

The parable is as follows:

" 8 But if a woman has ten silver coins and loses one of them, then they do not light a lamp, sweep the house and search tirelessly until she finds the coin? 9 And when she hath found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found the drachma which I had lost. 10 I tell you, there among the angels of God over one sinner who repents. "

Interpretation

If there is already a woman with a newfound coin so very pleased how much God is pleased with a man who, repenting of his false way, without God and come to him.

So this parable calls to repentance.
