Paraburdoo, Western Australia

Paraburdoo is a place in the Pilbara region ( Ashburton Shire ) in the Australian state of Western Australia.

Location

The mining village with about 1600 inhabitants, is located in the northwest of Australia and the State of Western Australia, 420 km south of the coast well with the ( harbor ) sites Dampier, Karratha and Port Walcott at Wickham on the Indian Ocean.

The mountain range Hamersley Range with the Mount Bruce ( 1234 m high) and the Mount Meharry ( 1251 m) extends north of village. There is also the Karijini National Park (formerly " Hamersley National Park ").

Economy and Transport

Since the 1960s, is located here iron ore deposits of the international mining group Rio Tinto Group are broken down.

About 10 km away is the Paraburdoo Airport.

The town is the terminus of the railway line Dampier - Tom Price - Paraburdoo that serves the removal of Erzgesteins.
