Parachute (Colorado)

Garfield County

08-57400

Parachute is a so-called Statutory Town in Garfield County in the U.S. state of Colorado.

The city's name comes after a note from 1879 on a stream, which presents itself in the form of a parachute, back. Later, the Indian word for twins Pahchouc served as an explanation. In 1908 the town name was changed in accordance with the nearby Grand Valley of the Colorado River, presumably to benefit from tourist crowds. In the 1980s, the city was returned to its original name.
