Paraphyses

As long paraphyses are called sterile organs that stand between the reproductive organs of mosses and fungi.

When the sac fungi ( Ascomycetes ) they are between the asci. They form together with the asci the hymenium (fruiting layer) of the fungus.

The standing at the mosses between the male ( antheridium ) and female ( archegonium ) reproductive organs multicellular hairs juice is called " paraphyses ".
