The Dark Blattlausschwebfliege ( Parasyrphus lineolus ) is a fly from the family of hoverflies (Syrphidae ).

Features

The type is one with a body length of 8-10 mm of the medium sized hoverfly. The antennae are dark brown to black, eyes glabrous. On the dark yellow face is a black Mittelstrieme. In females, the forehead is dark and dusted the pages bright. The mesonotum is metallic black gloss. The scutellum is black hairy and reddish yellow. The medium width black abdomen is bent at the edges and on the second segment has two yellow spots. On the third and fourth segment yellow binding can be seen. The wings are light brown and have a black and brown Randmal. The legs are dark brown with the exception of the all-black hind legs, which approaches the front and center rails as well as the joints are to bright. The Dark Blattlausschwebfliege can ( Parasyrphus annulatus ) are with the way Light Blattlausschwebfliege confused, but has lighter antennae and legs, as well as with Parasyrphus vittiger the dark sensor, a yellowish Flügelmal ( pterostigma ) and light legs.

Occurrence

It is widespread in Europe, Siberia, China and North America. In Central Europe it is not uncommon in the mountains. Preferably, coniferous forest ( fir, spruce ) and conifer plantations, there at the edge of a forest and clearings. They fly from April to July, at higher altitudes even up to August.

Way of life

The adults move the majority of its life on trees or bushes ( arboreal ). However, they also fly down to visit flowers, there on umbelliferous plants but also to bloodroot, blackberry and raspberry. Wanderart and oligovoltin with 2-3 generations per year. The larvae feed on aphids ( zoophagous ) and can be found up in the spruce crowns. A proportion of the larvae overwinter in dead plant material on the forest floor.
