Paray-Vieille-Poste

Paray -Vieille -Poste is a commune with 7171 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Essonne in the Ile- de -France region.

Geography

Paray -Vieille -Poste is located in the north of the department of Essonne and is part of the Greater Paris area. The neighboring municipalities are Rungis, Orly, Villeneuve -le- Roi, Athis -Mons, Savigny- sur -Orge, Morangis and Wissous. The city is situated on the old road from Paris to Fontainebleau. In the north of the city is Paris-Orly Airport.

History

The place was first mentioned in 1195 as belonging to the abbeys of Saint- Germain -des- Prés and of Sainte -Geneviève. Around 1250, the church received a mayor. In the 17th century there was a post office, as the city was on the way from Paris to Fontainbleau. In 1859, a farm from the Auberge de la Vieille- Poste.
