Parika

Region

Parika is a waterfront village at the mouth of Essequibos in the province of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara in the northern part of Guyana. The community is known for its ferries, operated by the Ministry of Transport and lead to and from the Essequibo Islands and West Demerara. In parika there are relatively many banks in the region. The town is also the starting point for many bus services to the surrounding areas.

According to 2002 census Add parika lived a total of 4106 individuals, representing an increase of 41 % compared to the population of 1991.
